A Gentleman’s Guide to Vacation Packing

After a long and stressful work day, we all want to kick our boots off and enjoy a cold drink, or, even better, a relaxing vacation. When it comes to organizing a perfect vacation, you will realize that there are only two key factors necessary for a well-organized trip – choosing a destination and packing. We have singled out some great tips for men who want to know how to pack efficiently and adequately for their travel.

Preparation for the trip

No matter what your destination is, preparing for a trip is always the same. For gentlemen, this usually includes buying a lot of water or sodas to stay hydrated, and bringing a change of clothing that includes socks, ties, underwear – just in case you accidentally spill your drink or food. Additionally, you should pack some snacks so you don’t run low on energy or get sick on the long journey. Also, don’t forget to bring a mini blanket and be comfy during the trip. If the flight, or drive, is going to be long, you may want to bring a book or an mp3 player so you don’t get bored. Don’t forget to bring your passport and buy a wallet for your ID and money if you don’t have one.

How to start filling your luggage

The question you will constantly have to ask yourself during packing is: “Will I really need this?” Your luggage should only contain necessary items that you will wear or use on your vacation. Styling experts, like Ralph Lauren, have said that this is the year for men’s preppy clothes which can be worn to parties and any other social events, so make sure you buy some for your vacation. We have listed some suggestions bellow for what clothing and hygiene products to bring on your journey. Men generally don’t enjoy packing, so here are some easy and time efficient tips and tricks for packing your belongings as well.

Personal hygiene products and skincare

Among the essential necessities, like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shower gels, we strongly recommend bringing all of yours grooming essentials, too. Whether or not you as a guy believe that is not manly to use them, you will have to keep your skin from cracking or becoming irritated. If you are planning on visiting some locations where it is hot and dry, make sure to bring skin products with you. You will be faced with problems such as dry lips, which you can tackle by using lip balm for men. Overexposure to direct sunlight can cause dried and chafed skin, but that can be nurtured with some moisturizing creams and sunscreen. Also don’t forget to keep your beard clean and tamed with natural and organic beard oil and a beard comb.

The art of rolling your clothing

The next segment of the article consists of some suggestions on how to pack your suitcase for a big trip. No matter whether you are a master of packing or a beginner, learning how to pack and fold is a great organizational skill to acquire in life. There are various methods of folding clothing which you can master and use. You can either roll all your clothing into your luggage or some pieces of it. Make rolls out of your shirts, pants, etc. and then pack them as tightly as possibly. This method is very practical because it eliminates the issue of your clothes getting wrinkled in the suitcase.

The filing method

Try to imagine that your suitcase is like a big filing cabinet. Fold your clothes so that they look like files and carefully store them vertically from front-to-back. This way all your clothing is neatly stacked and you won’t have to worry about wrinkles. Additionally, you can buy reusable plastic bags, droplet wet bags or Ziploc bags, which will help you keep your food fresh and away from other suitcase contents.
