With the summer halfway through, you must be suffering from the vacation-itch if you haven’t yet been to some exotic destination. Now your head might be among the palm-fringed beaches and ladies in sexy bikinis, but your feet are still here in the middle of the concrete jungle, and there are many things to do before you actually pass the airport check in. One of them is the annoying packing process, since many problems occur, such as over/under packing, too much toiletries or simply forgetting something. We know, you would rather have someone else do it for you, but man's gotta do what man's gotta do. It’s not the same, but we’ll give you some tips that will help you stay on the right track.
Depending on your travel miles, you will probably have some time on the plane (or on the bus) for when you are not sleeping or talking to someone. Equip your carry-on with a great book (if you find one that takes place in a country you are visiting, even better), a travel guidebook, a foreign language dictionary (if you need it), headphones and a fantastic playlist on your smartphone. Also, don’t forget to pack carry-on basic hygiene like wet wipes or a hand sanitizer.
A man needs to look his best when on vacation, and for that you will need a grooming kit that contains a sunscreen, shaving cream, aftershave balm and moisturizer. If you think that shaving is for men who can’t grow beard, you will need organic beard oil, beard wash and beard comb (you can even get one in the form of stylish necklace, so you can always keep it with you).
As for the clothes, start with some basics and then start adding other items. First, you should pack several stylish swim trunks, cotton tees and beach essentials. When packing the rest of the clothes of your choosing, be wise with the space. Save some room in your suitcase by packing double-duty items. Opt for a multitask t-shirt that can be worn to the beach and in the evenings, for instance. Also, avoid overcrowding your bag, by buying some expendable items (flip flops, white cotton tee) that you can simply throw away later.
Besides your beard comb necklace, you will need some other stylish accessories. Get several summer-loving handmade bracelets instead of a wrist watch, one wayfarers and one aviator sunglasses and a stylish sun hat. As for the shoes, you will need a pair of boat shoes, canvas sneakers and flip flops (this one you can buy in the place you are staying).
Vacation is not all about the long days on the beach and all-night ravers. It is also about resting and finally getting a good night sleep. Unfortunately, since they are crowded with tourists, many destinations can be noisy, so make sure you pack some ear plugs and an eye mask, if the light bothers you. Since most of the hotels are air-conditioned, the air in the room can get really dry, which can disturb your sleep, dry out your skin and cause other issues, so consider packing an air humidifier to maintain a healthy amount of moisture in the room.
Besides your smartphone (which should be equipped with useful travel apps), pack a smart padlock for your suitcase, a power bank or a solar charger for your phone, mini steam iron, portable Wi-Fi, eBook, an extra phone case and all the other things you consider useful, whether as a form of entertainment or as a life-saving travel hack.
There you have it. That wasn’t so hard, was it? Now you can go back to thinking about powdery white sand, mojitos at the Tiki bar and all the other great things that make a perfect vacation.
